The pre-processing steps for creating woven baskets from seagrass are as follows:
1. Harvesting and Cleaning the Seagrass:
Seagrass is harvested from aquatic environments and then meticulously cleaned to remove impurities and unwanted elements such as mud and other attachments, ensuring that only high-quality fibers are used in the weaving process.

2. Drying and Cutting:
Once cleaned, the seagrass is thoroughly dried, primarily through sun drying, to reduce its moisture content to an optimal level between 8% and 12%. This ensures that the fibers are not too brittle and prone to breaking while maintaining their flexibility and elasticity for weaving. Proper moisture control also helps prevent the woven products from becoming warped due to moisture absorption during later use. After drying, the fibers are cut and trimmed to the appropriate lengths and widths, depending on the specific product requirements.

3. Dyeing (Optional):
Depending on design needs, the seagrass may be dyed before weaving or painted after. Eco-friendly, non-toxic dyes are used to ensure that the colors are uniform and fade-resistant. Once dyed, the fibers are dried again to prepare them for the weaving process.
